MARIANNA’S DIVE

Marianna is 14 years old and has just lost her love. Shattered by an endless sadness, the kid is roaming the streets of a grey and autumnal Palermo. Meanwhile, an elusive figure is walking through the same streets, someone who seems to be interested in everything that people ignore. Can an unexpected meeting, between dream and reality, help Marianna find some trust in life again?

The director: Gianfrancesco Iacono

Gianfrancesco Iacono (1986) was born in Palermo. He has a bachelor’s degree in Modern Literature and he works as a consultant in the cinema and audiovisual field. In 2013 he published the novel “Sogno nella via blu” with Nulla Die, finalist of the literary prize La Giara for the region of Sicily. His first animated short film, Night Shift (2019), was selected by several international festivals including the Exhibition of the New Cinema of Pesaro (2020). His second project, “Il Tuffo di Marianna”, has won the prize for Best Animated Short Film during the XIII edition of the Sciacca Film Fest 2020.
