Another extraordinary day at the Cinema Palace! Visioni Fantastiche continues its rich programming of previews, meetings and tributes. Sunday 27 October the day started at 10:00 with the documentary Never Ending Man: Hayao Miyazaki di Kaku Arakawa. The film follows the creative and existential events of the Master of Japanese animation, from the abandonment of the scenes to the artistic rebirth and the realization of the future opera.
The program then continued at 12:00 with the amazing Special Selection. The section presented a selection of the best short films coming directly from one of the most prestigious festivals in the world, which for years has devoted most of its program to school education for children of all ages: the Kurzfilmtage in Oberhausen, the historic German cinema festival , in which in 1962 Herzog, Wender, Reitz and other great directors signed the manifesto of the new German cinema. Inside the section, Vera Neubauer’s short films have been screened, rediscovered and restored to be shown on the big screen. Made with the revolutionary technique of knitting needles, the short films are so suggestive that they fascinate audiences of all ages.
In the afternoon then two incredible reruns of the Fantastic Previews took place: at 3.00 pm, Lajka by Aurel Klimt, the animated film that narrates the space adventures of a group of tender animals that will try to colonize a planet; at 17:00, instead, Window Horses by Ann Marie Flaming, an introspective and authorial animated film that tells the story of a Canadian girl who returns to Iran to rediscover her roots. All Visioni Fantasiche events and screenings were free admission and took place in the Palazzo del Cinema e dei Congressi, in largo Firenze 1.
