The programming of the most sensational film festival in the city of Ravenna continues: Visioni Fantastiche! The second day began Tuesday, October 22nd at 8:30 am with the unmissable category 9+ of the International Competition, which included a unique proposal of short films dedicated to children aged 9 to 11 years. The boys not only watched the films, but they also voted for them, covering both the role of spectators and jurors. To embellish this competition, Madalina Aivanoaie, actress of the short film Princess, was present in the theatre, accompanied by the film’s producer and assistant producer: Claudia Di Lascia and Marta Braga. Section 9+ continued at 2.30pm with the screening of Jim Button and Luke the Engine Driver directed by Dennis Gansel. The film tells the story of little Jim, who decides to go in search of a kidnapped princess with his friends Luke and Emma the locomotive. The adventure will allow Jim to start a journey to discover himself and his origins. In addition to watching movies, students were also be able to attend workshops, focusing on practical experiences regarding cinema in its most manual aspect. At 9 am the Workshop 9+ “The creation of a character” was held by Matteo Burani and Arianna Gheller of Studio Croma. The teachers involved students in creating a character using the puppet animation technique; at 2.30pm instead there was the first workshop dedicated to 6+ students: “Learn to animate Totoro”, in which the teachers Axel Zani and Davide Bart Salvemini taught the children to animate “Totoro”, the famous character of Hayao Miyazaki, through the flip book technique. In the morning “From the Lego to Cinema“, the first incredible interactive laboratory allowing kids to use LEGOs to modify or insert scenes in the narration of a small short film.
At the end of the day, at 7.30 pm, Tribute to the Masters section presented “My neighbor Totoro”, the unforgettable Hayao Miyazaki’s film. The film tells the story of two little sisters who move to the countryside to stay close to their sick mother. In this idyllic landscape they come into contact with a magical world populated by fairy creatures.
