Special Selection is the Sunday appointment of Visioni Fantastiche where we will propose an exclusive selection of short films and audiovisual material of great value from the prestigious Kurzfilmtage in Oberhausen. Suitable for children but able to fascinate every age, the program of shorts will be divided into two blocks: the first will be dedicated to the retrospective on the Czech filmmaker Vera Neubauer, who in the early 1970s made six animated short films for the children’s television series “Das feuerrote Spielmobil / The fire read playmobile”. Five episodes on best friends Pip and Bessie have been rediscovered, restored and are now shown on the big screen. Woolly’s subsequent films feature the character of Annie and her world, all made with knitting needles.
Wordless but with clear messages, the second block is named Stories without words, convincing with its variety of topics – be it family or friendship. Exciting and instructive. Snowflakes and Carrots (Canada, 2010, 4′), Bottle (USA, 2010, 5′), Cherry on the Cake (UK, 2009, 8′), Anna Lovenstein (France, 2008, 8′), Jump (Norway, 2008, 1′) and Donkey (Norway, 2009, 5′).
